4 Appendix

4.1 Disposal

The product may come into contact with blood during testing.

Used products therefore carry a risk of infection. Please dis-

pose of used products according to the regulations applicable

in your country. For information about correct disposal, please

contact your local council or authority. The product falls out-

side the scope of the European Directive 2002/96/EC (Direc-

tive on waste electrical and electronic equipment (WEEE)).

4.2 Using a USB flash drive

Important note

: Do not remove the USB flash drive

containing the Accu-Chek Smart Pix Pocket Tools

software while data is being exchanged. Doing so

could cause irreparable damage to files. The USB

flash drive itself could be damaged, rendering it

unusable. To prevent this please follow these instruc-

tions for safe removal of the USB flash drive:

• Look for the "Safely Remove Hardware" symbol on

the Windows taskbar

• Double-click the symbol .

• In the dialog box displayed select the removable

media (USB flash drive) to remove it.

• When the "Safe to remove hardware" message

appears, you may unplug the USB flash drive.
